Question by Brad: What adjustment could I make to reduce the flicker from taping off of a computer screen?
When I was a kid my friends and I made these animations using Paint and windows movie maker. Due to our lack of knowledge and video equipment at the time we preserved our animations by playing them on the computer and videotaping the monitor. Naturally the video flickers.

Years later I found the tapes and I put the footage on the computer. I want to touch it up and somehow reduce the flicker. I have Final Cut X, is there an adjustment or filter that I can use to do this?

Hi Brad:

Sadly, the CRT scan flicker has to be dealt with at the time you record the footage, not afterwards.

Of course, given enough time & patience, you could do a frame-by-frame retouch of brightness differences, but that still wouldn’t eliminate the “scan bars” (black sync bars scrolling thru the screen).

Using animation techniques, it would be possible to select new keyframes (selected frames of the footage that don’t show the scan bars) and cut & paste them into frames where the black bar is more annoying.

As you may know, true animation isn’t drawn with the full 24, 25, or 30fps. Typically 12 frames are drawn, and double-framed since the eye still sees that as smooth motion.

Not so long ago I asked a question about how to market a work from home business. Many people wrote inviting me to do their program without answering my question. A stay at home mom with young children wrote letting me know what to look for and the company she worked for. I’d like to know more about legitimate companies. I don’t want rebates, putting things together, just honest companies that offer 401K plans and the ability to make money.

I really just need a jump start on this paper.

Just a suggestion.

April 1, 2010, will be Census Day. You’re supposed to fill out a form that asks you all kinds of questions about your household.

However, the Constitutional purpose of the Census is:

1. Provide a count of people in each state so that we can assign the number of House of Representatives delegates for each state.

2. Within each state election districts of approximately equal populations can be drawn.

So, just give them a count of the people in your household, but don’t answer about names, ages, sexes, ethnic origins, bathtubs, rooms, value of house, etc.

As for your other questions, I’m afraid that you will have to write your own paper.

many of them used their wealth to finance wars. In fact in the 16th century, war was the number 1 spending item for most monarchs, it was an extremely costly affair as they had to pay for the soldiers, their food and weapons/ horses etc.

Other spending involved donations to churches, monastaries etc, and good old fashioned parties.
